On Władysława IV Street in Gdynia, next to the famous Słoneczny milk bar, Pop In serves American classics alongside exceptional interior design. “Creating this place was an extraordinary adventure. First, with a hammer, a saw and dynamite, we removed the former beer bar’s interiors and got to work. What we uncovered delighted us: beautiful old bricks and walls marked by time,” says architect Jan Sikora. Softness and artistic expression were added to the raw walls. Art runs playfully through the composition: references to American pop art, a work by Alexander Liberman and the Central Park mosaic sit alongside paintings by Ewa Konieczna-Pilachowska and Andrzej Konieczny, and works by Andrzej Smolan. A witty take on industrial style resulted in a wall made from 24,000 Lego bricks, built by the Sikora Wnętrza team and the client’s friends, as well as a “Pollock” composition on the floor. Playfulness, openness to unconventional solutions and the owners’ twelve years of hospitality experience in the Tri-City produced a distinctive, carefully detailed space that feels light and optimistic.
