A bold, recognisable and unique interior for a contemporary dining concept: Doble in Gdańsk. This expressive, experimental space serves sweets with ancient origins. Doble is a new destination on Gdańsk’s culinary map, offering famous Greek doughnuts enjoyed since antiquity. There is more to discover here than new flavours: architect Jan Sikora’s experimental interior is equally intriguing. Doble occupies an intimate 75 m² space in the heart of Gdańsk, close to the famous Neptune Fountain. Jan Sikora wanted the design to be daring and experimental, contrasting with the historic buildings around it. The intrigue begins at the entrance. Geometric ceiling forms — cones, hemispheres and arches — create a dynamic composition resembling contemporary sculpture. The desserts served at Doble directly inspired the design. The interior feels light and delicious, without becoming overly sugary. The ceiling’s minimalism and fantasy contrast with classical touches: a chevron floor, cornices and carved table legs. Intense yellow is one of its defining features, dominating the geometric ceiling forms and walls. Inspired by the Greek sun, it creates a distinctive, uplifting atmosphere. The yellow ceiling became the focal point around which the entire interior was composed. Understated furniture complements the design without distracting from the space’s main feature.
